On April 6th Bromyard Town Centre once again reverberated to the sound of cars from years gone by. Attracting over seven thousand visitors across the day spectators were able to enjoy a spectacle of over 200 cars and bikes, a recreated ‘Williams Engineering’ and even a re-enactment of the Italian Job!
The Bromyard Royal British Legion are delighted to inform you that General Sir Peter Edgar de la Cour de la Billière, KCB, KBE, DSO, MC & Bar a former British Army General who was Director SAS during the Iranian Embassy siege and Commander-in-Chief of the British forces in the Gulf War has accepted an invitation from Bromyard Branch of the Royal British Legion to `Take the Salute` at the Poppy Pageant Parade on 15th September 2018.
The Chairman, Norman Dunn said “This is wonderful news and we are delighted he is joining us adding prestige to what will be a most memorable day”
Pete Jackson is retired and lives at Upper Sapey with wife Pauline who is a dog agility trainer who competes nationally. Pete is 70 in August, full of fun and always one up for a challenge so he thought he would mark this special life anniversary by carrying out a Special POPPY PARISH WALK for charity. He is a seasoned walker and has previously taken part in sponsored walks in the UK and Africa. Being a member of the Bromyard Branch of the Royal British Legion he has decided to link in with their WW1 commemorations to mark the end of WW1 so his walk will form part of the `Bromyard Everyone Remembered` events.
His 70 mile POPPY PARISH WALK will see him visit the war memorial in most of the parishes surrounding Bromyard and Winslow District. At each memorial visited he will leave a Bromyard By-Pass Poppy bearing the message `Bromyard Remembering Everyone`.
The last Poppy that he will carry with him throughout his POPPY PARISH WALK Pete will lay at the Cenotaph at the Rugby Club on the 15thSeptember at the Poppy Pageant Parade. A special moment for him as he will be accompanied by his granddaughter who is a military Cadet.
Pete launces his POPPY PARISH WALK at the Tenbury Road Coop, Bromyard, on 10thAugust please pop and meet him and his family. Please sponsor either by a donation or by the mile.
